Ingredients
1 1.4 cup chopped dates
1 cup hot water
1 cup soft butter
1 1/4 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 3/4 cup flour
1 1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
1.Mix chopped dates and hot water. Let cool
2.Beat butter, sugar, and eggs until creamy.
3.Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir in date mixture. Add second mixture, vanilla and 1/2 cup chocolate chips.
Spread 1/2 cup chocolate chips and 1/2 cup chopped nuts over top. Bake at 325 for 1 hour. Note: Sprinkle flour before and after adding date mixture. Ice with chocolate icing.
