8 1/2-inch thick sliceschallah or Hawaiian sweet bread
2 tablespoons butter, melted
4 - 6 ounces semisweet chocolate, finely chopped
1 cup raspberries
Warm Chocolate Gravy
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon margarine or butter
1 1/4 cups milk
Preparation
Heat a large heavy nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Meanwhile, brush one side of each bread slice with some of the melted butter. Place half the bread slices, buttered side down, on a plate. Sprinkle with chocolate and raspberries to within 1/4 inch of crusts. Top with remaining bread, buttered sides up. Place sandwiches, two at a time, in pan. Weight with a heavy skillet.
Grill sandwiches over medium-low heat for 6 to 8 minutes, until chocolate is melted and bread is golden brown, turning once midway through grilling time. Grill remaining sandwiches.
4.In a small bowl stir together sugar, cocoa powder, and flour. In a medium saucepan melt the margarine or butter. Stir in the cocoa mixture until thoroughly mixed and no lumps are visible. Gradually add milk to saucepan, stirring constantly.
