Ingredients
Cookies
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/3 Cup buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg
2 oz unsweetened baking chocolate
1 3/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
Frosting
2 oz unsweetened baking chocolate
2 tbsp butter or margarine
2 cups powdered sugar
3 tbsp hot water
Preparation
Melt 2 oz chocolate and let cool.
Beat sugar, 1/2 cup butter, buttermilk, vanilla, egg and chocolate using electric mixer on medium speed
Stir in flour, baking soda and salt
Drop dough by rounded tablespoons about 2 inches apart
Bake 8-10 minutes or until no indentation remains when touched in the center. Cool completely, about 30 minutes
In 2 quart pan, melt 2 ounces of chocolate and 2 tablespoons of butter over low heat, sitting occasionally.
Remove from heat and stir in powdered sugar and hot water until smooth. If frosting is too thick, add 1 teaspoon water at a time. If frosting is too thin, add more powdered sugar 1 tablespoon at a time.
