Ingredients
1 stick margarine (or 1/2 c. shortening like Crisco)
3/4 c. sugar divided equally between white and brown sugar
1 egg
1 t. vanilla
1-1/4 c. flour with 1 t. baking soda and 1/2 t. salt mixed in
1 c. (6 oz.) chocolate chips
(optional: another 1/4-1/2
c. flour.)
Preparation
Beat the margarine and sugar. Then add the egg and vanilla to the mixture. Mix the flour, baking soda, and salt separately before adding it to the above. Mix only until the flour disappears.
As the chocolate chips, stirring them in with a spoon, not an electric mixer. The dough should be fairly stiff
Drop by spoonfuls and bake at 350F for 8-10 min, depending on size of cookies & how crisp you want them. They’ll cook a little after being taken out, so don’t let them get too brown on the bottoms.
After the first batch, if the cookies run together in the oven, add another 1/4-1/2 c. flour.
