Ingredients
CHOCOLATE CAKE
2c all purpose flour
2c sugar
1tsp baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c water
3/4 c buttermilk
1/2 c shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
4 oz. melted unsweetened chocolate
Heat oven to 350, Grease and flour 13 by 9 pan or 2 layer pans. Measure all ingredients into large bowl. Blend 1/2 min. on low speed, scraping bowl constantly. Beat 3 min. on high speed, scraping bowl occassionally. Pour evenly into pans. Bake oblong pan for 40-45 min. Bake layer pans for 30-35 min. Cool
CHOCOLATE FROSTING
Frosting
1/3 c. soft butter
2 oz. melted unsweetened chocolate(cool)
2 c. confectioner’s sugar
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
about 2 tbsp. milk

CHOCOLATE FROSTING Mix thoroughly batter and cooled chocolate. Blend in sugar. Stir in vanilla and milk, beat until frosting is smooth and at spreading consistency. Fills and frosts two layers or 13 by 9 pan. For 3 layes use: 1/2 c. soft butter, 3 oz. melted unsweetened chocolate, cooled, 3 c. confectioner’s sugar, 2 tsp vanilla and 3 tbsp. milk
