Ingredients
2 cups sifted cake flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 & 1/2 sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 eggs separated
2 squares chocolate, melted & cooled
1 cup buttermilk
Preparation
- sift flour, baking soda & salt together.
- cream sugar and shortening till light
- add vanilla and beat in egg yolks.
- stir in chocolate
- add sifted ingredients and buttermilk, alternately in about 3 portions beating after each.
- fold in stiffly beaten egg whites
- pour into greased floured pan and bake at 350 degrees F for approximately 45 minutes.
