Ingredients

2 cups sugar

3/4 cup butter

4 eggs

1 cup flour

1 cup cocoa

3/4 coarsely chopped nuts

2 teaspoon vanilla

Pinch salt

Opt: slivered almonds instead of frosting

Preparation

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the sugar and butter Add the remaining ingred. and with an electric mixer, beat on medium speed until well blended. Spread in a buttered 11 1/4 by 7 1/2 inch pan. Bake at 350 for 35 minutes. Cool before serving.

Before baking, sprinkle liberally with slivered almonds, they will bake in, brown nicely and then there is no need for frosting!
